Only One Night by Natasha Madison
I will say this once, I will say it a thousand times - I'm not a hocky fan. Gasp, I know. HOWEVER, NM has made me want to buy a ticket to a local game just to see if the guys are as hot and smoldering as they are in her books. And for those of you who have read this series before and, like me, have been DYING for Manning's story. OH. EM. GEE. It was totally worth the wait.
Story Line: We have met Manning previously in this series, but never in detail. We knew he was married, but we also knew his marriage wasn't exactly traditional. Well thank you sweet baby Jesus with a hockey stick ,we FINALLY know what in the world was going on there. THEN, throw in a one night stand with a fiery red head, and we have just enough drama and angst to last me until the next book in this series comes out. Manning is officially my favorite (fictional) hockey player of all time. Seriously, I freaking adore him. And as for Evelyn? I have a major girl crush on her. She's the perfect blend of sweet, subtle and dirty. Like, if anyone every describes me, I hope to God those are the exact words they use for me.
Interaction: See how I was super evasive in the story line? Yeah, that was on purpose. I don't want to give anything away. There's so much goodness in this book, y'all. But I will tell you this - Manning and Evelyn are HOT AF. There are instant sparks for these two. "There is never a third without a second" is officially their mantra. And mine for that matter. Confused? Read the book. Insert cheesy smile here. Anyways, the amount of love poured into this book has my heart and lady bits bursting. BURSTING. You will feel every stolen moment, you will feel that naughty wall against your back and you will feel the turmoil and anticipation between our two main characters to the depth of your soul.
Laundry: Listen. For those of you new to NM, let me paint you a little picture. Okay, less paint, more words. But hear me when I say she writes some of the BEST laundry I have ever read. I swear, after each scene I was looking for Mr Laundry. I'm pretty sure my kindle was looking for its own release because these words, ladies. Oh my lord. So hot and so dang good.
Depth: There's SO MUCH I want to say here. SO FREAKING MUCH. But I can't. So forgive me while I give you so very vague tidbits. One, Manning has so much more to him than an awful marriage. His character alone had me crying and tingling all at the same time. He is definition of dedicated and motivated. There is not a single thing about his character I would change. Well, maybe make him an actual living breathing man, but alas, I will have to pretend. And Evelyn may just be my hero. Seriously, her character grows so much throughout this story. She was never a bad person, but she was a bit timid. But by the end of this book, she is a force to be reckoned with. I adore her. I adore him. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Only One Night. And thank goodness for that - it wasn't just one night.
