Review: Lessons from a One Night Stand by Piper Rayne

The dynamic duo has done it again. They have me addicted to another one of their brilliant series and this is just book 1. The Bailey's #1 is here and I don't think I'll ever get enough of this quirky, hilarious and devoted family. This is Austin Bailey's story and boy is it fantastic. As you can see in the title, he has a lot to learn, but he definitely hits the ground running.

Story Line: Austin has moved back home to help take care of his EIGHT other siblings. Yes, you read that correctly. He comes from a big family where they have tragically lost their parents. So back home comes stud muffin Austin to help care for his brothers and sisters. And it's not like they make it easy on him. Those teenagers are a freaking handful. Anyways, he ends up coaching baseball at the local high school as well as teaching there too. But his dreams say this isn't permanent. He wants to coach college ball. And hes' going to do whatever it takes to make that happen. But then there's Holly. The chick he heated up the back of his jeep with. That everyone knows about. Oh, and Holly just so happens to be the interm principal of his school. Oh no. OH YES. Sparks fly and before we know it, we are head over heals in love with this couple. I know my dream for Austin changes, but does it change for him too?

Interaction: Holly is the perfect balance of independent, I can do it on my own woman and okay I'll let you take charge stud muffin. She's fierce, don't get me wrong, but she also shows her softer sides as well. And for that reason alone, I adored her. And then there's Austin. He reminds me of that super hot coach from high school that all the girls tried to get detention for, that was somehow single and we all wondered why. You know the guy. Of course at my school , their was rumor said coach was boinking a few students, but that's absolutely NOT the case for Austin. Austin is one of the good guys. One of the good guys who bangs his "one night stand" in the back of his jeep, but hey, no one likes a stuck up straight laced shooter kind of man. Regardless, Austin and Holly's communication (verbal and non-verbal) is incredible. They talk like they've known each other for years. They don't play games. And they go after what they want.

Laundry: Have a mentioned that these two got it on in a car in a bar parking lot? Yeah. So if that's any indicator of how the laundry goes for these two, you should already be hopping over to Amazon to one click. Just saying. Austin is the lover you've been dreaming of. Holly is who we picture ourselves being. And their chemistry is smoking hot. Seriously.

Depth: It's funny how a book about a high school teacher/coach and the principal can somehow pull emotions out of you that you never saw coming. Austin has dreams of making it big as a baseball coach. But those dreams change. It may take him an extremely long time to discover that, but better late than never. For me, as I was reading Austin's carefully laid plans to head out to California, I couldn't help but remember the dreams I had as well. I never dreamed of working in healthcare, yet here I am. With this little blog on the side. Just because a dream doesn't come true, doesn't mean you failed. It means you grew up and your dreams changed course. And that's okay. Because your new dreams, could actually be the happily ever after you've prayed for. And that's exactly what Holly and Austin got.
